18ct Gold Etruscan Amethyst and Pearl Crown Fob Charm Pendant
Likely crafted in Venice during the late Victorian era, circa 1880s, this striking pendant captures the grandeur of ancient Etruscan ornamentation with elaborate twisted wirework, bead detailing, rosettes and crown-like form. Five oval-cut amethysts display beautiful medium violet colouring, perfectly complemented by luminous seed pearls that enhance the regal design.
The larger amethyst at the base of the crown shows visible internal feather inclusions, consistent with antique gemstones, while one side amethyst has a small surface chip commensurate with age. The bail carries Italian 18ct Gold hallmarks, confirming its quality and origin. Excluding the bail, the pendant measures approximately 30mm by 30mm and has an impressive weight of 23.9 grams, giving it a wonderfully substantial feel in the hand.
Suspended from a fine 22-inch belcher chain, this remarkable piece is a wearable example of Victorian archaeological revival jewellery. This is a beautifully preserved echo of the ancient world, lovingly recreated over 140 years ago.
