18ct Yellow Gold Art Deco-Inspired Amethyst & Diamond Ring, London 1995

At the centre sits a striking rectangular emerald-cut amethyst which displays a rich purple colour that contrasts beautifully against the warmth of the yellow gold. A fine decorative gold border frames the amethyst, emphasising its crisp rectangular shape and giving the centre of the ring a particularly defined, architectural appearance.

Surrounding the amethyst is a generous arrangement of round- brilliant diamonds, individually set into a softly scalloped cluster. Their sparkle provides a lovely contrast to the deeper colour of the central stone, while the symmetrical arrangement retains the structured look that gives the ring its Art Deco influence. The cluster continues towards the shoulders before flowing neatly into a polished yellow gold band.

Although hallmarked in London in 1995, its bold shapes and symmetrical design take their influence from the glamorous jewellery styles of the 1920s and 1930s.
