Antique 15ct Yellow Gold Albert Chain with T-bar
The chain is formed from bold 7mm curb links, each individually hallmarked, a highly desirable feature found only on superior quality antique examples. Individually stamped links required considerably more time and craftsmanship during production, making chains of this calibre increasingly difficult to source today.
The chain retains its original 36mm T-bar, which is also hallmarked and carries a worn maker's mark. The accompanying dog clip bears the Makers Mark EW&S, attributed to E. Whitehouse & Son of Vyse Street, Birmingham, one of the city's respected chain manufacturers during the Victorian period. Their reputation for producing durable, high-quality gold chains is reflected in the superb construction and longevity of this piece.
Its generous 47.8-gram weight gives the chain a luxurious drape, while the classic curb links create a bold yet elegant profile that remains as stylish today as it was well over a century ago. Originally designed to secure a gentleman's pocket watch, Albert chains have become highly sought-after necklaces, worn alone as statement pieces or paired with an antique fob or pendant for an authentic period look.
It measures just under 16 inches and is a wonderfully heavy Albert chain with outstanding presence around the neck. With its individually hallmarked links, original fittings, desirable Birmingham maker's marks and substantial gold weight, this is a superb collector's piece and an increasingly rare opportunity to own a genuine antique Albert chain of exceptional quality.
