Birmingham 1976! Vintage 18ct Gold Opal & Diamond Ring
The central opal displays wonderful flashes of fiery red, green, blue and orange, complemented by two matching opals to either side. Between the opals sit pairs of old cut diamonds which add delicate sparkle and beautifully frame the stones. The ornate carved gallery and scrolling shoulders give the ring a wonderfully romantic antique character.
The ring is fully hallmarked in 1976 at the Birmingham Assay Office, identified by the traditional anchor mark used for Birmingham assay pieces. It also bears the makers mark S & D who we unfortunately can’t find any further information on.
This ring weighs 5.1 grams, is currently a Size O and can be sized a little.
Opal and diamond rings remain among the most sought-after antique and vintage gemstone combinations thanks to their ethereal colour play and elegant styling. The substantial 18ct Gold construction and classic five-stone arrangement make this a particularly wearable and collectable example.
